Terra Stools by Adital Ela

Adital Ela stands on encouraging sustainability and inventing fresh ways to preserve our planet. Her studio S-Sense based out of Israel defines itself by these three principles: 1) Planet – Design of products and services that support sustainability. 2)People – Design that empowers people and communities. 3)Value – The promotion of sustainable design thinking action and education.

In an effort to create a recipe for useless matter that could be manipulated into furniture, she discovered Terra. The ingredients in the material consists of 100% environmentally friendly items like compressed soil, agricultural waste, and the natural environment. She basically made something out of nothing. Her process is quite laborious, finding herself arms and knees deep in the earthy mixture. Each stool boasts 100% organic, completely biodegradable, and entirely energy free to produce.
Terra stools have three wide legs, slightly colored at their end and an arch in between. Each stool is made with ancient building techniques gathered from the artist’s research collecting information from various Isreali sources including her grandmother.
