The 1950s Cellor Frames Get A Modern Redesign

Founded in 1917 in Turin, Italy by Giuseppe Ratti, Persol has evolved from a company that used to design high performance glasses for pilots and sports drivers into a well-known brand which paved the way towards the now popular market of fashionable eyewear. Created in the 1950s, the iconic Cellor frames have been admired and reinvented numerous times. For 2016, Persol has restyled the classic silhouette to bring it to a new generation, with extra attention paid to maintaining the retro allure intact. The half-rim frames feature a modern flattened bridge and are now made from durable acetate and premium quality metals in a sturdy construction.
There are two designs available, a classic light brown frame featuring round Phantos lenses, and a sunglasses version with black frames and a rectangular lens shape. Both versions are refined and chic, keeping the spirit of the vintage design alive. This fresh take on a timeless style provides only subtle and minimal modern accents, letting the original shine through and perfectly illustrating how some designs do indeed age like fine wine.
