Designed by Pedro Mealha, this Cuckoo’s House delivers the nostalgic charm of a cuckoo clock without the persistent noise. In the modernized version, the bird’s sound is activated by a light sensor, so that the clock doesn’t chirp throughout the night. Additionally, there are two volume settings and an off switch, for when one has company or wants to take siesta. When the bird is programmed to sing, its beak opens and its wings flap. Available on Etsy, the Cuckoo’s House is made of acrylic and responsibly-sourced plywood and and finished with with an Oak stain, shellac, and beeswax.
