French creative JR collaborated with Brooklyn based artist José Parlá to create his latest installment of the series “The Wrinkles of the City”. Together they plastered pictures of individuals onto city surfaces, complimented with swirling calligraphic markings. Their choice of placing images of elderly inhabitants upon imperfect surfaces with the addition of free flowing lines further enhances the depth and tactile quality of each piece. The wrinkles and time enabled imperfections of each subject also encourages viewers to appreciate the city’s architecture, the aged faces of these people on the walls tell the tale of the life that exists within each structure. Open to public interpretations this piece of truly thought provoking.
