TIPI Lamps Bring Imagination to Light

What kid hasn’t dreamed about cowboys and Indians, the possibility of adventure awaiting in the Wild West? With his new TIPI Lamps, Spanish designer Javier Herrero has transformed an iconic symbol of the American West into a sleek and functional piece. Although the design is manufactured in mass for BUOKIDS, there is immense attention to detail in the use of traditional construction techniques and materials. Herrero’s TIPI lamps demonstrate an unending appreciation for the harmonious relationship between man and nature; solid beechwood is hand-turned by local craftspeople and treated with natural oils to form the base and inner structure of each lamp alongside a lampshade made of hand-embroidered, 100% wool “ecru” felt from Spain. The craftsmanship gives each lamp a warmth and hand-made aesthetic that is hard to come by, while the simple shape and use of elegant graphic patterns gives them a modern and sophisticated appearance. Not only does TIPI spur the imagination, but it fosters respect for nature and craftsmanship from a young age. Available in yellow, red, pink, and blue.
