Remember the tale of the ugly duckling? External appearance is no determinant of internal character, and a judgment made out of vanity is sure to pass over TLM. This “transformation d’un grenier” – transformation of an attic – by Savoiz Fabrizzi Architects has carved a beautiful interior out of the rough, wooden cottage. Resting upon a gentle hill in Canton Vallese (or Valais), near Verbier Switzerland, the residence bears a rugged façade but smooth, polished planks of wood line the inside of the two-bedroom house. Strips of glazing and a skylight let in the sun’s rays, which flood the simple rooms from attic to basement.
