Directed by Jerome Thélia, “Pass it On” is a short film, a New York Times “Op-Doc” to be precise, showing how one Congolese man upcycles trash into soccer balls. The camera follows the craftsman as he picks up litter—fabric, plastic, and string—and transforms it all into a toy for the children in his village. Symbolic of play, unity, and renewal, the soccer balls uplift the spirits of the kids and most anyone who sees them, whether on-site or from the other side of a computer screen.
