Vitra and G-Star RAW’s Jean Prouvé-Inspired Office Furniture Installation

The Dutch jeans label G-Star RAW and the Swiss furniture company Vitra are presenting the latest edition of their line of Jean Prouvé-inspired office furniture at the G-Star RAW Store in Milan. In conjunction with Salone del Mobile 2015, the installation will take place from April 15-19.

Following up on their 2011 edition of the Prouvé RAW Collection, the new models include chairs, lamps, and tables for the workplace. Each of the ten designs draws inspiration from the drawings of Jean Prouvé, the acclaimed French designer who brought us creations such as the Demountable House. While honest to the style of the original 1940s furnishings, Vitra adapted the design to better fit contemporary life. The team of designers kept the modern shapes and industrial materials such as leather, steel, and wood. But, they altered the items so that they are more suitable for dynamic, computer-based workplaces, adding adjustable legs, cable gutters, modular features, power fittings, and a five-prong base (for the desk chair). More than 70 years after Prouvé’s time, Vitra and G-Star RAW also revamped the color scheme in light brown, dark gray, and lichen green.

Can’t get enough of Vitra? Neither can we. Check out a handful of their other collaborations, including the Diogene tiny house by Renzo Piano, the Twist Me bookcase by Mejd Studio, the Tyde workstation by Ronan Erwan Bouroullec, and this home collection by Jasper Morrison.
