Netherlandian designer Vincent Bos envisions products that can affect the relationship between the urban man and the environment. Made from natural materials like oak and porcelain, a technique the artist picked up in Jingdezhen, his “Wall Elements” collection is a continuation of his environmentally-conscious, user-focused practice. Despite its clean, modern lines, the series of handmade birdhouses was created for outdoor use, with durability and versatility in mind; the modular system can be uniquely assembled to make a garden element for any space, and the sturdy wall mount is suitable for either a wall or fence. The Porcelain Oak Birdhouse and Wood Birdhouse are combined in the final piece, Wall Elements Ceramic Birdhouse, through minimal tree-like forms in a whimsical play on natural imagery. “Designed to bring nature and the elements back to the urban man” so that “birds can have a display spot in the city and in the Vinex districts,” Bos’ playful yet functional outdoor products consider every dimension of user interaction.
