Though the blunders of college may be something worth forgetting, nobody can resist the humor in Zevaka Table, designed by Yaroslav Misonzhnikov. The images of students napping uncomfortably during lecture, the icky feel of gum under the desk, and the tangle of electronic cables in backpacks are all characteristics of the university life. Misonzhnikov combines these faults and turns them into features of Zevaka Table. The table’s wooden surface flips up to reveal a soft fabric underneath that can best be described as a hammock for one’s sleepy head. A ceramic strip under the desk will take the abuses of chewing gum, and notches in the table help organize wires and the like. There is a place to hang the overused backpack, and as a final poke at the college stereotypic, also a container for condoms.
