Anne Boysen Leads the Way for Danish design

View all 8 Photos

Despite being fairly young and working in a largely male-dominated field, Danish designer Anne Boysen has managed to establish an impressively extensive collection of work that defies expectation. Although she is the recipient of countless awards and recognitions, including the Bolig Magasinet Award for “Best Upcoming Designer” and Femina’s “Shooting Star of the Year” Award (an honor given to 100 women) in 2013 and the Bo Bedre, Bolig Magasinet & Costume Living Design Award for “Furniture of the Year” in 2014, Boysen’s designs speak for themselves; functional yet “fun,” she maintains a delicate balance that is so often lost in the world of commercial products.

“Layer It,” designed in 2014, is a prime example of this innovation among her most recent works. The flexible system of boards comes in a variety of shapes and colors which allows for endless uses and flexibility of arrangement, from headboards to bulletin boards to installations. The playful simplicity of her cleverly-titled “Watch Out” clock is enhanced by the choice of concrete and oak construction while her Toward sofa, recently updated in a sophisticated color labeled “balanced blue,” merges elements of an armchair, chaise lounge, and loveseat to make for the ultimate experience in comfort and customization. With an elegant aesthetic and a creative approach to functionality, Anne Boysen is bound to continue her early success as a leader in the world of design.
