The ARV Chair

A stunning dining chair inspired by Danish tradition.

The beautifully designed ARV Chair has a distinctive character that draws inspiration from traditional and iconic Danish design. Commissioned by René Redzepi, the Head Chef and Founder of renowned restaurant noma, the chair is part of a larger collection of furniture meant for the restaurant’s new space. The chef tasked architect and designer David Thulstrup with designing the new pieces of furniture. Thulstrup in turn then turned to heritage design brand Brdr. Krüger to bring the collection to life via the company’s more than 130 years of experience in crafting furniture to the highest standards. The new ARV Chair has a bold presence but a timeless look.

The design pays homage to Danish tradition, while also offering a fresh twist on classic designs. Redzepi wanted the seating to provide ultimate comfort, so the chair has an optimized shape that helps the user feel relax. Light and airy as well as elegant and full of personality, the chair also boasts a tactile surface created by the closely woven fabric. Naturally, ARV looks at home in noma’s new space which features warm wooden surfaces as well as minimalist tables and charming rustic details.

The beautiful ARV Chair is currently available to order on the Brdr. Krüger website. It comes in two versions, with or without armrests; the former boasts an oiled oak frame in the same light hue of the textile, while the latter comes with fumed oak legs and backrest which add contrast to the lighter seat.
