Avocado-Inspired Wooden Frame by Bike Studio Jan

View all 20 Photos

Currently being developed by the Czech workshop Bike Studio Jan, this wooden bike design resembles the outline of an avocado. The curved form is handcrafted from more than forty layers of veneer. Each strip is a single-piece cut so that the resulting frame is both flexible and strong. As seen in the prototype, the design is naturally finished with epoxy resin and paired with simple black components made of dural metal alloy. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the bicycle on Youtube.
