The Balzo Collection

An exploration of balance and movement.

Florence-based Studio Lievito takes its name after the Italian word for “leaven”, in a reference to the concept of creating a reaction between separate elements to bring a new object to life. The studio seeks to find the perfect balance in harmonious designs. Products that reach beyond the sum of their parts to provide a fresh perspective on modern Italian lighting design. A determination to celebrate artisan skills and combine them with modern technology also define the studio’s projects. The recently launched Balzo collection embodies all of these ideas and more. Featuring a striking design, the Balzo floor lamp brings a creative touch to interiors.

An exploration of movement as well as balance, the dynamic silhouette reproduces the descending and ascending path of a ‘bouncing’ sphere. A white Carrara marble base provides support and anchors the lamp, while a curved metal tube represents the parabola of the globe. At the end of the trajectory, an opal glass diffuser seems to capture the sphere mid-flight. The floor lamp comes with a black or a gold finish, but both versions feature an elegant white marble base. The Balzo collection will make its official debut in style, at this year’s Milan Design Week. Photographs© Studio Lievito.
