The Casona Sforza Hotel

A new boutique hotel inspired by tradition, harmonious reflection, and nature.

Designed by Mexican architect Alberto Kalach, Casona Sforza is a new boutique hotel in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. The high-end retreat aims to provide an eco-friendly place to relax, contemplate nature, and slow down. The distinctive design draws inspiration from vernacular architecture, featuring asymmetric volumes with striking arches and vaulted ceilings. Nestled in the tranquil setting of La Barra de Colotepec, the hotel faces golden sands and Pacific Coast views.

The eleven suites boast vaulted ceilings and a cozy décor that blends tropical woods and stone with artisan-made furnishings. Every room has access to panoramic views of the beach and the ocean. Guests can choose between three types of suites: Junior, Senior, and Master. Outside, a huge round pool with concentric forms offers the perfect way to relax while admiring the serene coastal landscape. Throughout the interiors, furnishings and objects celebrate local traditions and crafts. The rooms feature textiles from the Oaxaca Valley, pottery and furniture from the workshops of Pueblo del Sol, as well as chairs and curtains from Yucatán.

Following the hotel’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility, Casona Sforza’s restaurant serves farm-to-table dishes made using local ingredients sourced from farmers who use non-intensive, seasonal farming practices. Apart from relaxing suites, swimming pool, and good food, guests also have access to massage and yoga sessions, surfing lessons, whale watching activities, and more. Throughout their stay, however, they can always explore or simply admire the lush landscape of the Colotopec river delta. Here, cypresses, oaks, and mangroves grow alongside golden sand beaches.
