The Chikuno Air Purifier

A beautifully designed activated charcoal air purifier.

Used for hundreds of years by Japanese craftsmen thanks to its purifying properties, activated charcoal now enters modern living spaces. Made by Morihata, the Chikuno activated charcoal air purifier blends modern design with the natural features of the eco-friendly material. Microscopic cavities across the surface of the charcoal absorb impurities and odors, making indoor air cleaner and fresher at the same time. All in a natural way. Incredibly absorbent, the porous Chikuno Cube air purifier features a blend of activated bamboo charcoal and clay minerals. Its surface boasts a honeycomb structure that enhances effectiveness further. The cube comes with a wooden base, which provides perfect support while adding an elegant finishing touch to the design.

Optimized for maximum efficiency, this activated charcoal air purifier absorbs impurities and odors as well as moisture from the air. It’s ideal for spaces of up to 17 sq. ft., which means anything from bathrooms to wardrobes and refrigerators. The only problem? This air purifier looks too good to remain hidden in a closet. For optimal performance, the cube needs direct sunlight exposure – at least six hours per month – in order to release trapped odors. Completely natural, Chikuno is also easily recyclable after one year of use. The Chikuno Cube has received the prestigious 2009 Japanese Good Design Award. Buy here.
