Corks By Jasper Morrison

A limited-edition furniture series made of cork stoppers.

Renowned designer Jasper Morrison makes beautifully minimalist products that give a distinctive character to honest materials and simple shapes. Museums that have included his work in their permanent collections include MoMA, New York, Centre Pompidou, Paris, and the V&A Museum, London. The new Corks line showcases the designer’s ability to use natural materials in new ways. Made in a limited-edition, the cork family Jasper Morrison line at the Kasmin gallery in Chelsea, NYC marks the designer’s first solo gallery show in North America.

Crafted from wine bottle stoppers left over from cork stopper production, the Corks series is beautifully textured and eco-friendly at the same time. Cork doesn’t require the cutting of the tree, only the harvesting of the bark which then regrows. This limited edition collection includes a fireplace surround and dining table, chairs and a chaise lounge as well as bookshelves and stools that double as side tables.

Each product from the cork family Jasper Morrison series is one-of-a-kind. The designs feature eye-catching textures and light colors. Some items even boast the shape of the original cork stoppers, visible on the surface of the reconstituted material. At the exhibition, visitors can admire the pieces of furniture up close in beautiful rooms with either dark green or white walls that put the cork furniture in the best light.
