The Work of Designer Ben Storms
Antwerp, Belgium
Furniture Design
Ben Storms is a Belgian designer and craftsman who explores the limits of tactile materials in his work. The son of a stonemason, he went on to study art history but also studied sculpture, stone cutting and woodworking. After finishing his master’s degree, he switched his career path to furniture design. Ben Storms uses cutting-edge techniques and traditional methods to create his ingenious designs. Unconventional and sculptural, the pieces of furniture double as works of art and challenge the user to see familiar materials in a new light. Examples include the In Hale and Ex Hale series that recreate the shapes of soft pillows and cushions from materials like solid marble, frosted glass, and metals. Ben Storms currently lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium.
