Melbourne-based Derek Swalwell is one of Australia’s best-known architectural photographers. After working as a photographer’s assistant, he started shooting professionally in 1999. Passionate about design and architecture, Derek Swalwell works with local, Australian, and international design firms, architecture practices, and advertising agencies. His work ranges from architecture, landscape, lifestyle, automotive, and travel photography to artistic personal work. During his prolific 20-year career, the photographer has created stunning series that capture the work of renowned architects - from Carlo Scarpa, Aldo Rossi, and Carlo Aymonino to Ricardo Bofill and Yoshiro Taniguchi. Derek Swalwell’s images have been featured in world-renowned publications, including Vogue Living, Est Living, and Habitus magazine.
