Blaq Architects

Santiago, Chile

Operating from studios in Santiago and the lakeside city of Osorno, Blaq Arquitectos designs houses, holiday retreats, and small hospitality projects that sit lightly in Chile’s dramatic landscapes. Founded by Benjamin Litvak in 2016, the practice pairs a close, workshop-style dialogue with clients and builders with a material palette tuned to each setting: cross-laminated timber and SIP panels for remote Patagonian sites, adobe and reclaimed beams for colonial restorations, exposed pine trusses for surf-town beach houses.

The team keeps the process open. Weekly on-site reviews, shared digital models, and mood boards developed with local craftspeople let clients help steer everything from cladding species to passive-solar overhangs. Recent work ranges from Casa DU, a sun-stacked family home in Santiago’s Lo Barnechea district, to the adaptive reuse of a 1910 casona in Valparaíso, now a boutique inn shaded by a rooftop vine canopy.

Beyond residential commissions, Blaq designs brand activations, pop-up pavilions, and retail interiors, bringing the same joinery care to plywood stands and store vitrines. More than 2,000 m² of built work—and a queue of second-home briefs from the Atacama to Chiloé—show a studio convinced that careful detailing and participatory design can turn rugged sites into enduring places to live.
