CAN is an architecture and ideas studio that brings a fresh perspective to spaces and objects by pushing beyond the ordinary. Led by Mat Barnes, CAN is known for designs that engage with the cultural and historic layers of each project, resulting in spaces that are not only functional but striking and memorable. Their work doesn’t just create structures; it redefines how people experience them, aiming to make cities more joyful and inclusive. Before founding CAN in 2016, Mat was an Associate at Studio 54 Architecture, where he worked on award-winning housing projects and complex schemes in Camden. Today, he continues to share CAN’s approach through teaching at The London School of Architecture.
