Athens, Greece
Founded in Athens in 2011, Fotis Zapantiotis Associated Architects works from tight urban interiors to public cultural commissions. Every project starts with a close reading of site and program, then strips structure, light, and material to what is essential. The studio’s proposal for the UNESCO-run Bamiyan Cultural Center competition—rammed-earth courtyards drawn from the valley’s historic fabric—was awarded “Best Architectural Study 2011-2015” at the Domes Awards. Closer to home, the widely published 67 sqm Apartment Renovation re-planned a 1960s flat around daylight and long city views, earning the Hellenic Institute of Architecture’s top renovation honour for 2013-2017.
Today an eight-person team balances private homes, hospitality work, and open competitions, convinced that precise construction and restrained form can unlock new life even in the most constrained contexts.
