Leopold Banchini Architects

Geneva, Switzerland

Leopold Banchini Architects is a Geneva-based practice founded in 2016 by Swiss architect Leopold Banchini. The studio works across private houses, civic buildings, and temporary installations, treating each project as an experiment in how local craft can meet globally shared building ideas.

Projects often start with rapid, hands-on mock-ups and make use of readily available components—scaffolding poles, CLT panels, rammed earth—so construction stays adaptable and collaborative. That method underpins the timber-framed Casa CCFF beside Geneva’s tracks, the bamboo-shaded House of Architectural Heritage in Bahrain, the kilometre-long scaffolding walkway Hyphen, and Dar El Farina, a low-tech family home in rural Morocco. Structure doubles as invitation: walls slide open, surfaces welcome occupation, and detailing stays clear enough for local builders to take the lead.

The practice keeps its workshop in Geneva while Banchini teaches at HEAD and EPFL, balancing commissions with ongoing material research and field trips that feed straight back into the next prototype.
