Mínima

San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain

Mínima is an ecological architecture studio based in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, near Madrid. Founded by architects Helena Aguilar and Juan Ramón Cristóbal, the practice focuses on sustainable homes, passive-house design, and the careful renovation of existing buildings. Both architects trained at ETSAM in Madrid before developing a more personal approach to architecture, one centered on quality of life, environmental responsibility, and a close reading of each site.

The studio’s work combines bioclimatic design, energy efficiency, low-impact materials, and healthy interiors. Rather than treating Passivhaus as a fixed formula, Mínima uses it as part of a broader architectural method, shaped by climate, construction, proportion, light, and the everyday rituals of living. Projects such as Casa Mínima reflect the studio’s interest in essential spaces, natural materials, and architecture that feels precise without losing warmth.
