PLA Architects

Dublin, Ireland

PLA Architects is a design focused architectural practice, led by Patrick Lloyd, with bases in both Dublin and Tipperary, that specializes in the design of high quality single-family and multi-unit residential projects across the country. A graduate of the School of Architecture at the Dublin Institute of Technology, and recipient of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland Deirdre O'Connor Medal for Professional Practice in 2008, Patrick commenced work in the the practice in 2004 and following a period spent with Bates Smart Architects in Melbourne, Australia, returned in 2010 to lead the team through multiple successful and award winning projects in the years since. Patrick, along with interiors consultant Cornelia Hope and architect Hugh O'Rourke, also a graduate of the School of Architecture at DIT, accompanied by faithful office dog Domino, form the nucleus of PLA Architects today.

PLA Architects is an evolution of the practice Peter Legge Associates, which was founded in 1961 by Peter B Legge, and which for over fifty years of practice, earned an enviable reputation for quality design and service across a wide range of projects, most especially in the hospitality, residential and industrial sectors. Over the years, Peter was architect for many of the major medical multinationals' first projects in Ireland, including those for Abbott, Allergan, Hollister, Organon, Servier and Becton Dickinson, and also garnered multiple awards and competition successes, most notably winning the first international design competition for the redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power Station in London in 1984. Peter was still active in the practice, and in life, right up to his passing in January of 2019, and remains an inspiration to us all at PLA Architects
