The Donhou Utility Bike

A versatile urban bike designed to adapt to different needs.

UK and Athens-based Donhou Bicycles is an award-winning frame building workshop that produces high-quality and beautifully crafted steel bicycles. Their Utility bike is also incredibly versatile. Specially designed, it has a distinctive geometry which the workshop created by testing the limits of a fully adjustable prototype. And the result? A capable and adaptable bike that can handle anything from the daily commute to weekend trips away from the city. While it can steer quickly at lower speeds, Utility also remains perfectly stable at high speeds. Plus, it’s optimized for front loading and thus offers a more lightweight and springier alternative to a cargo bike.

The bike comes with a porteur style handlebar with an integrated bell mount. However, Donhou also offers a flat bar option. Bolt-on cable guides offer a convenient way to keep the clean design intact. Horizontal dropouts also make the change from a geared to a single-speed build as easy as possible. Other features include stainless steel retention washers, rack mounts, mudguard mounts, and an entry for an internally router dropper post.

Utility comes as a frame set, a complete build, or a custom design. The frame set includes the frame and fork as well as the handlebar and stem combination, while the complete bike comes with a set of high-quality components. Among them, a Shimano Altus 9 speed hub, Shimano MT200 brakes, Schwalbe Road Cruiser (Green Compound) 650x42b tires, and a Brooks Cambium C17 saddle. Customers can also opt for the custom bike and focus on specific features. Built in limited batches with sustainable materials, the Utility bike comes in two color versions: Mustard Yellow and Motorcycle Blue. Photographs © Donhou Bicycles.
