Ftelia Beach Club

Italian design meets modernist vibes in a tranquil retreat by the sea in Greece.

Nestled on a sloping hillside above Ftelia beach on the island of Mykonos, Greece, only a 20-minute drive away from the Mykonos International Airport, the eponymous Ftelia Beach Club and restaurant is a relaxing oasis that keeps refinement and tranquility in perfect balance. Architect and designer Fabrizio Casiraghi designed the retreat with his signature blend of artistic sensibility and Italian sophistication. Furthermore, the beach club showcases an adroit use of light and color. The style effortlessly combines retro, modernist cues with contemporary touches. Shades of burnt orange and terracotta complement ocher hues, while the intense green of the vegetation stands out against the pristine whitewashed walls of the complex. The beachfront location allowed the team to create a strong connection between the interiors and outdoor spaces on one hand and the turquoise sea on the other.

Apart from lounging in hammocks or on sunbeds while admiring the Aegean Sea, guests can visit the beach club’s restaurant. Here, talented chefs use fresh, locally sourced ingredients to prepare delicious dishes. Serving a menu that explores authentic Greek cuisine with modern influences, the restaurant offers a slice of Mediterranean gastronomic delight. To wind down, guests can enjoy spa and massage treatments. Additionally, the complex offers access to pool events and live shows.

Ultimately, the Ftelia Beach Club is an architecture and design gem. To create the beach club’s distinctive identity, the architect skillfully paired elements of traditional Mediterranean architecture with modernist design cues and pops of color while allowing the surrounding nature to become a central part of the design.
