Celebrating the creative vision of talented female photographers around the world.

Launched on the 8th of March, 2020, International Women’s Day, the second edition of the Hasselblad Heroines series continues the Swedish brand’s mission to celebrate female photographers. The series features talented women who have made their mark in the industry with highly creative work. Apart from celebrating accomplished female photographers, the project also aims to encourage young photographers to enter and elevate an industry dominated by men. “Last year we received a resoundingly positive response to the Hasselblad Heroines series, and we want to continue celebrating artists who represent true creative ingenuity,” said Marketing Manager Bronius Rudnickas.

Each week, Hasselblad Heroines will feature new heroines accompanied by both photographs and video interviews. The photographers not only share their work, but offer helpful tips and talk about their creative process, favorite subjects, and sources of inspiration. The series provides a glimpse into their experiences as a woman photographer while exploring some of the industry’s challenges. For 2020, Hasselblad Heroines will feature seven photographers over a total of seven weeks.

The inspiring lineup includes Swee Oh, whose work showcases her background in architecture; Julia Fullerton-Batten, who creates beautifully cinematic photos; Bara Prasilova, who brings surreal concepts to life; Celia D. Luna, a portrait and fashion photographer who creates colorful images influenced by both Peruvian traditions and Floridian life; Clarissa Bonet, who uses her camera to focus on the pedestrian experience in urban landscapes; Natalia Evelyn Bencicova, whose portraits blur the line between reality and imagination; and Chiara Zonca, an Italian fine art photographer whose landscape photography is otherworldly as well as hauntingly beautiful.
