Hotel Pacai

A one of a kind, award-winning hotel that blends 17th-century elements with contemporary design.

At this year’s prestigious Surface Travel Awards, a hotel from Vilnius, Lithuania scooped the award for best ‘large international hotel’ 2019. And it’s easy to see why this particular 5-star hotel, one that opened its doors only in 2018, outranked others. Nestled in the heart of the city’s historic area, Hotel PACAI is a 17th-century mansion turned hotel. The building and its interiors effortlessly blend both historical features and contemporary design.

Local architect Saulius Mikštas together with interior designers Indre Barsauskaite and Greta Valikone completely transformed the hotel but preserved architectural details that celebrate its heritage. The team also maintained the stately ambience of the original building. Baroque elements from the original mansion include the stunning vaulted stone ceilings as well as the red tile roof. The 104 rooms and spacious suites have an elegant décor that blends local design features with sophisticated elements. All of them boast a palette of Baltic gray with neutral colors and subtle color accents. Wooden floors, exposed brick walls, restored frescoes, and marble benches appear alongside modern furniture, stylish lighting, and artworks. In the bathrooms, white or green marble complements golden fixtures and centuries-old details.

Guests ca enjoy some Lithuanian cuisine in the Nineteen18 restaurant that serves dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Hotel PACAI also includes a spa where guests can unwind after exploring Vilnius and several meeting rooms that suit everything from a business meeting to special events. Tourists who wish to experience the city like a local can use the hotel’s list of recommended sites, galleries, concept stores, and more. Photographs© Hotel PACAI.
