The Kevi Office Chair

An iconic office chair, now relaunched in a series of gorgeous colors.

In 1958, Danish architect Jørgen Rasmussen created the Kevi office chair after a request from Kevi’s CEO, Bent Harlang. Re-launched with the double-wheel castors Rasmussen invented in 1965, the chair became a resounding success. Over the next 60 years, Kevi provided a versatile seating solution in spaces as different as schools to design offices – not only throughout Denmark, but all over the world. In 2023, Danish furniture brand Montana has brought the design back to life in eight glorious colors. Founded in 1982 by Peter J. Lassen and now run by his son, Joakim Lassen, Montana produces high-end furniture that not only showcases the best of Danish design, but also emphasizes the power of color to create different moods in a room. The new monochrome version of the Kevi chair shows that good design is timeless yet also offers new ways to enhance the personality of a space.

“The Kevi swivel chair is in my opinion the quintessential office chair. Adding this iconic design to Montana’s assortment of furniture is a dream come true,” says Joakim Lassen. “What better way to welcome the iconic Kevi design into the Montana product family, than to give it a dreamcoat of colors,” he adds.

Perfect for a home office, the chair comes in eight Montana colors. Apart from the more neutral Shadow, Black, Oyster and Snow, the other colors are the bolder Pine, Azure, Hokkaido, and Rhubarb. All options feature caster bases that match the seat and backrest. The new Kevi collection includes two chairs with backrests and one without back support. The former come either with a compressed molded ash veneer seat and backrest or with soft upholstery. Every Kevi office chair also comes with a powder-coated or a polished aluminum base. Finally, four-legged versions of the chair are also available. Montana has launched the new Kevi office chair colors at the 2023 edition of the 3DaysofDesign in Copenhagen. Photographs © Montana.
