Ludovica by Zanocchi & Starke

Designed by Zanocchi & Starke of Turin, Italy, Ludovica is a modern bookend with a removable reading light. The two-part design is composed of a red aluminum frame and a light housed in white plastic. The lamp can be secured inside the angular frame or taken out and rested on a desk or bedside table. Powered by LEDs, the light runs for four hours on its own or more when plugged into a computer or other device via USB cable. As LEDs produce almost no heat and the light is protected by two layers of high-quality plastic, the design is safe to use as a bookend even when the light is on.
