Mirror, mirror, on the…? The Me Mirror is not quite a vanity mirror, nor is it the classic hand mirror. The hybridized design, conceived by Matthias Hahn, combines a free-standing mirror with the handheld, turned on its side. The wooden handle that extends horizontally from the glass allows easy adjustment of the mirror’s tilt for the perfect angle. Though the mount of the mirror might resemble a magnifying glass, the image is fresh, and perhaps a little forward for comedic relief. Whether placed tabletop or on the floor, Me Mirror, currently in production by Swedish brand Asplund, makes beautification one step easier.
“Thinking of the typology of mirrors, the usual concept is either a wall hung piece or a hand held mirror sitting in a drawer. The idea for the ‘ME’ mirrors is, to turn the tool of the mirror itself into a product which is able to move into different areas of a domestic environment. Rather being treated as a a piece of occasional furniture than a product which is linked to singular location.”
