Naked Stables Resort

A two hour trip away from China’s largest city, Shanghai, Moganshan stuns with its magical landscape. As a counterpoint to the metropolis’ breathtaking skyline and streets lit by brightly colored neon signs, this tranquil region where cars can’t even enter immerses its visitors into serene nature. Moganshan’s naked Stables resort provides a memorable travel experience. It allows guests to take a break from their urban lifestyle and return to simple, natural living. Rolling hills, woodlands, and bamboo forests dominate the landscape, while old stone villas appear dotted throughout the lush green valley.

Naked Stables offers accommodation in 121 rooms, divided between earth huts and tree top villas. The former are either nestled in the forest or on the hill side, while the latter sit above the treeline. Both provide stunning views over the tea plantations, forests, and distant mountains, as well as access to private terraces and deck areas. The décor takes inspiration from contemporary South African and Asian design. Rich wood floors, fur rugs, and earthy colors appear alongside modern furniture. Guests can visit the resort’s horse stable and ride one of the gentle horses. Or take a swim in one of the leaf-shaped pools before enjoying a meal at the restaurant. There are also plenty of activities for those who wish to explore the area, including hiking, biking, and tea-picking, among many others.

As China’s first LEED platinum-certified resort, naked Stables has an eco-friendly design. The buildings feature locally sourced materials like bamboo, recycled timber, earthen plaster, as well as traditional mud and stone walls which complement cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art insulated panels.
