Nobis Hotel Copenhagen

Classic and modern styles come together in this high-end hotel’s sophisticated design.

Designed by architect Martin Borch in 1903, the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music building quickly became an iconic landmark. One of the first concrete structures in Copenhagen, the building stands between the city center and Vesterbro. It’s also conveniently close to the National Museum and the Rådhuspladsen town hall square. In 2017, architect Gert Wingårdh redesigned the property to give it a new life as a high-end hotel. Nobis Hotel Copenhagen features a blend of Danish classicism and Swedish sensibility with Le Corbusier influences also present in the sophisticated interiors.

The architect transformed the historic landmark building into a contemporary hotel with 75 rooms spread across 5,400-square-meters. Original elements take pride of place; among them, the spectacular wood and marble staircase as well as the ornamental detailing and ceiling moldings. Minimalist furniture designs complement the classic grandeur along with premium materials like marble, natural stone, wood, and glass. A modern concrete reception and the architect’s signature style complete the interiors that also feature glamorous accents like Italian marble bathrooms.

The 75 rooms vary in size. The largest two, the Penthouse and the Nobis suites boast 1055sqft and 980sqft, respectively. The former has a more Nordic appeal with modern, minimalist furniture, while the latter celebrates the hotel’s classic style. Designer rugs, wooden flooring with large chevron patterns, black steel four-poster beds as well as white window frames with crossbar centerpieces are some of the refined touches of the new rooms. Guests can dine in the hotel’s restaurant and indulge in the Nordic menu with European influences and the dishes that feature seasonal ingredients.
