Organico by Philipp Crass

An eco-friendly furniture concept.

Born in Southern Germany, Philipp Crass grew up in a rural area immersed into nature. This early period of his life influenced the Berlin-based designer’s creative approach. All of his projects showcase a strong bond to nature, but Organico may be one of most evocative examples of Phillipp Crass’ work. Using both traditional and renewable resources, the designer developed a new technique to create an innovative material. Made with a blend of hemp fibers and an adhesive that combines calcium hydroxide and casein, the material is tough as well as flexible.

The “sandwich-like” structure of the material ensures its durability and strength while allowing it to easily adapt to different shapes. The Organico series presents the possibilities of this sustainable technique. The chairs feature a wooden frame which supports the eco-friendly hemp-based material. Colors and textures enhance the designs further. A blend of modern design and organic features, the concept proposes an ingenious way to craft green furniture for contemporary living spaces.
