The Origo Lighting Collection

A lighting series that brings together glass and volcanic rock.

Based in Mexico City, the davidpompa design studio makes beautiful products that blend honest materials and traditional craftsmanship in universal as well as timeless designs. The studio’s newest range is a perfect example. Named Origo, this lighting series features simple forms that make the most of minimalism with two contrasting materials: volcanic rock and glass.

The collection includes both a pendant and a wall light. While they boast the same materials and spherical shapes, the two designs differ slightly. The pendant light features two spheres, with the volcanic rock placed right above the frosted opal glass globe. For the wall fixture, designer David Pompa enhanced the tension between the two elements, bringing them closer together.

Both versions highlight the different textures and surfaces of the glass and the volcanic rock. When turned on, the bright glow of the glass globes amplify the textures of the volcanic rock as well as the contrast between light and shadow. Handcrafted in Mexico, the Origo collection celebrates simple geometry and the dialogue between contrasting textures and materials.
