Designed by Italian furniture, interior design, and home accessories brand Formae, the Roomate collection brings functional domestic architecture into living spaces. The series showcases the company’s preferred material, metal. Beautifully made, the products draw inspiration from both real and imaginary cities: Damascus and Italo Calvino’s Invisible City of Zenobia. Sculptural and geometric as well as lightweight and bold, the collection creates playful focal points in interiors.
Designed by Italian designer Alessandro D’Angeli, Damasco provides a fun twist on classic bookends. The bookends have clean forms that reference architectural features, allowing the user to create mini-cities on bookshelves. Likewise, Zenobio evokes rounded doors, windows, and arches. Created by De Bona De Meo, the coat rack uses bold lines as building blocks, creating a play between solid metal forms and negative space.
The Roommate collection will make its debut at this year’s Maison et Objet, between 6-10 September, 2019. If you want to admire the series in person, you can drop by hall 6, stand J 158. While there, you’ll also have the opportunity to browse through the Today section that will feature designs for modern lifestyles from both well-known and up-and-coming designers.
