Fashion and Style, Italians do it better

Sympathy for the Unusual, Spring Summer 2012

What better time than now to embrace the outdoors and seek empowerment through adventure? The Spring/Summer collection at Sympathy for the Unusual brings together five t-shirt designs from Sandra Dieckmann, Alvvino, and Polkip to form a collection that advocates strength, youth, and journey. Each of the designs features an animal (buffalo, elephant, bear, birds, and wolves form the set), and the look is clean and comfortable. On one shirt, the faded print of an elephant’s majestic head sits across the shoulders, while another displays all the detailing of a bear’s proud roar. The contrast of the well-defined rendering of each animal against the faded color of the print creates an effortless but conscious sense of style for women and men alike. And just to underline the nature theme of collection, the look-book pairs quotations from Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild with stunning photographs of models sporting this season’s t-shirt designs in a wooded forest. Sympathy for the Unusual, an Italy-based brand formed in 2009, unites international young artists to deliver each season’s collection with originality and a dash of bravado.
