TAKT’s Sustainable Turn Collection

An eco-friendly, repairable table and chair series specially designed with compact urban apartments in mind.

Launched in 2019, Danish furniture brand TAKT has pushed the limits of sustainable furniture design from the very beginning, quickly becoming one of the few European design brands to hold a coveted B-Corp designation. Apart from using only eco-friendly materials and responsible production methods, the company also sells its products directly to consumers to minimize costs and waste. The company takes its dedication to sustainability even further, making history as the first brand to publish CO2 reports for every product it makes. As a result, all TAKT furniture comes with the EU Ecolabel certification, meaning that every step of the production process meets the highest environmental standards.

Keeping all this in mind, it’s easy to understand how the Turn Collection came to be. Specially created for urban living spaces, which are often compact apartments, this series of tables and chairs provides the perfect solution to enjoy the best of Scandinavian design and protect the planet at the same time.

To create the furniture collection, TAKT partnered with design studio Lysemose & de Gier. Founders Michael Lysemose and Nicolai de Gier share the same passion for responsible use of materials and quality craftsmanship, making the collaboration with the furniture brand a natural step. The collection celebrates TAKT’s Perpetual Sustainable Design philosophy, offering an eco-friendly way to create a comfortable and fun dining area in a compact living space.

“We noticed that the majority of furniture was being designed for large open-plan homes; so we designed Turn Chair and Turn Table for people living in small, compact spaces that still deserve a well-considered, responsible and comfortable furniture collection optimized for their lifestyle,” says Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, TAKT’s founder and CEO.

Compact, comfortable and durable, the Turn chairs and table also bring a pop of color to living spaces.

Created with small urban apartments in mind, the chair and table are compact themselves, but never sacrifice comfort. They feature rounded forms and edges to encourage circulation in living spaces with a limited footprint. While the chair boasts a sunken seat and a curved backrest that hugs the user, the table features a “superellipse” shape with organic, flowing lines. Meeting modern demands for functionality and flexibility, the Turn Chair is stackable up to three chairs high.

Additionally, the Turn collection is easy to assemble and repair as needed. Users can replace parts from the brand’s stock to extend the lifespan of the chairs and table and thus eliminate the need to buy new furniture. This way, the furniture can also last for generations. Eco-friendly and durable, the Turn series is made from FSC-certified materials and comes with the EU Ecolabel. Furthermore, the die cut plywood minimizes waste and ensures extra efficiency during the production process. TAKT has launched the Turn Collection at this year’s 3daysofdesign event in Copenhagen, Denmark. Both the Turn Table and the Turn Chair are available now, in five finishes: Natural Beech with a matte lacquer, Japan Red, Black Blue, Copper Green and Sun Yellow.
