Located on Fogo Island off the coast of Canada, the Tower Studio is a small twisted structure that’s one of the six artists’ studios that Saunders Architecture of Norway constructed. This three story building has a painted wooden exterior and a whitewashed interior; the floors incrementally rotate so that a terrace on the roof is turned away from the ground floor by 180 degrees. The twisting effect creates a faceted recess at the entrance and a large triangular skylight allows light to shine into the studio on the middle floor. The ground floor includes a kitchen that’s powered by photovoltaic panels, a wood burning fireplace and a composting toilet.
