The Zenith Chronomaster Revival “Shadow” Watch

Inspired by a mysterious prototype from 1970, this watch effortlessly blends vintage and modern features.

Renowned Swiss watchmaker Zenith has always pushed the limits with innovative designs, from the first automatic chronograph, El Primero, to the Inventor watch that features a ground-breaking monolithic element instead of a regulating system with more than 30 components. Now, Zenith has launched a special watch design that pays homage to the brand’s history. Named Zenith Chronomaster Revival “Shadow”, the timepiece reimagines a mysterious prototype from 1970. Shrouded in mystery, the design appeared only in a few official records and was believed to be lost. As the company prepared to launch a 50th anniversary design in celebration of El Primero, the original prototype of the dark chronograph came to light among other artifacts, in an attic space.

Chronomaster Revival “Shadow” blends both vintage and modern features in an elegant as well as distinctive design. It features the original 37mm case but made of micro-blasted titanium with a dark gray matte finish instead of black coated stainless steel. Unlike the manual movement of the original prototype, this version features the El Primero 4061 automatic chronograph movement, which the user can admire through the display back. The dial enhances legibility with gray counters and tachymeter scale on a deep black backdrop. Furthermore, the brand used white Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers. In low lighting conditions, they stand out with a green glow.

The leather strap has white stitching as well as a micro-blasted titanium pin buckle that matches the case’s finish. The movement has a frequency of 36,000 VpH and a power reserve of minimum 50 hours. Other features include rhodium-plated hour markers and hands and a water resistance of up to 5 ATM. The Zenith Chronomaster Revival “Shadow” watch is currently available online and at selected stores at a price of $8,200. Photographs© Zenith Watches.
