We love seeing custom builds with a vintage aesthetic. That’s partly why this 1985 BMW R80 “Mutant” caught our eye. Built by Amsterdam-based Ironwood Custom Motorcycles, the bike strikes the perfect tone between vintage design and fierceness. Starting with a BMW R80 from 1985, the team transformed the motorcycle with a series of custom features. They not only shortened the front forks, but also installed a longer Hyperpro rear shock. This design decision enhanced the motorcycle’s dynamic, lean-forward effect.

Other new features include the LED taillight, Brembo-sourced brakes as well as rearset foot controls. In terms of style, the bike makes a statement with a vintage Zündapp tank and Shinko 270 Super Classic tires. The Alcantara and leather seat ensures more comfort while also adding a touch of contrast to the stainless steel exhaust and to the tank’s slightly muted green color. And the result? A gorgeous motorcycle that takes inspiration from the ‘80s to make heads turn in 2017. Photographs© Ironwood Custom Motorcycles.
