3D Printed CB500 Honda Motorcycle Sculpture

View all 6 Photos

This CB500 Honda sculpture is a full-size, 3D-printed replica by Canadian artist Jonathan Brand. Possibly the first 3D-printed motorcycle, the sculpture is made of 18 rolls of biodegradable corn plastic. Weighing less than 40 pounds, this is a light, delicate model meant for admiration alone. It is nonetheless a collector’s dream. The transparent plastic design was created part-by-part and assembled by Brand in his studio in New Haven, Connecticut. To shape the pieces, Brand used two Ultimaker 3D printers. The noncommercial printers were within budget and, given their open source design, both flexible and well-developed enough for Brand’s creative project.
