The WW Armchair – Color Series

View all 6 Photos

A vibrant version of a popular chair design.

After designing the WW Chair for his London-based furniture brand Hayche, designer Alejandro Villarreal turned to Brighton-based branding agency Studio Makgill to create a new version of the successful design. Keeping the original’s distinctive look intact, the new WW Armchair Color Series adds vibrant hues to the popular Hayche chair. The name refers to the classic Windsor chair and to the backrest which features a wire frame. Studio Makgill kept the chair’s form untouched, but used color to enhance the design.

The concept – first introduced in 2016 with the first colored version of the WW chair – draws inspiration from geography and provenance. It references the British Windsor Chair as well as the Mexican and Danish roots of Alejandro Villarreal and Hamish Makgill. WW Armchair Color Series comes in six different colorways. The main palette brings together the colors of the flags of the UK, Mexico, and Denmark. As a result, the armchair looks bolder and more and eye-catching than ever before.

The armrests wrap around the sides of the seat, mirroring the wood and metal wire backrest. The WW Armchair CS3 version boasts light blue legs, dark blue seat, red wire, and a natural American oak backrest. Ideal for a living room or a lounge area, this comfortable armchair also suits dining rooms. Regardless of location, it can easily create a focal point anywhere with its vibrant design.
