Alessandro Zambelli’s Experimental Code

Putting lighting design in a new light.

We’ve featured Alessandro Zambelli‘s work frequently. We also had the chance to interview this award-winning Italian designer. Now, we’re happy to introduce you to his latest work(s). The designer has always made creative products that blur the line between design and sculptural artworks. Over the past two years, however, Alessandro Zambelli has created his most experimental work to date. Through his eponymous design firm, Alessandro Zambelli Design Studio, the designer has launched several innovative projects that explore new materials and technology as well as a close relationship between high-end and industrial design.

Presented at the 2019 Milan Design Week, the Motusorbitas project uses OLED technology in an ingenious way. The sculptural lamps feature custom OLED panels and a dynamic design that uses both light and movement to create a uniting language between the ancestral and the abstract. For the Teleta lighting series, the designer explored the next-generation of materials that have the ability to improve well-being. He patented a metal filter that purifies both air and fluids. Each Teleta lamp features a ceramic diffuser, an LED module, and a cap-shaped filter. Using the energy from the light source, the filter creates a purified air flow. Finally, the designer took the role of artistic director for Genuit, a new brand that offers contemporary, custom lighting solutions for historical interiors and buildings that require preservation.
