The traditional multi-arm chandelier, reinterpreted as a minimalist sculpture that can change the mood of a space in different ways.

Designed by Alberto and Francesco Meda for Italian brand Foscarini, Asteria reinterprets the traditionally bulky and ornate chandelier as a dynamic, minimalist sculpture. While the suspension lamp boasts six arms, its clean expression removes any visual weight from classic chandeliers to instead trace the familiar form in lines rather than volume. The six slender arms curve away from a central cylinder, resembling a flower that opens its petals.

Apart from its elegant silhouette that instantly enhances even high-end interiors, Asteria also offers a convenient way to change the mood of a room. The extruded aluminum arms feature a triangular section, with LED strips on the upper section. As a result, they illuminates upward and sideways with a soft ambient light in the form of thin lines. This makes Asteria perfect for living rooms, dining areas, or any commercial space. Additionally, a hidden LED spotlight added to the base of the central cylinder produces a focused beam of light, providing a perfect way to illuminate a table or a desk. As practical as it is beautiful, Asteria allows users to switch on and dim the two sources of light separately, changing the mood of a room with ease, as needed.

Foscarini offers the design in different versions, to suit any space, whether it’s residential or commercial. The single-level version comes with six arms in three sizes. Available on request, the multi-level version comes with eighteen arms arranged across across three staggered levels, a spectacular light sculpture that can create a focal point in any room. Offered in dark red and titanium, Asteria has enough presence for larger spaces but keeps its structure visually light, closer to a suspended art piece than a traditional chandelier.
