The Buckle Watch by Nendo

A minimalist timepiece that re-imagines the traditional wristwatch with a new strap design.

Designed by Japanese brand Nendo, the Buckle watch offers an imaginative twist on the standard wristwatch. More specifically, it re-imagines the classic wristwatch strap with a creative design. The timepiece is a stylish addition to the brand’s 10:10 collection that celebrates the elegance of the angle created by the hour and minute hands. In true Nendo fashion, the Buckle watch is both minimalist and modern. It features three-dimensional hour markers as well as no superfluous details. However, the star of the design is the new simplified strap system.

The leather strap connects to the case only at the six o’clock mark. On the opposite side of the case, a buckle provides a creative twist on standard strap systems. The user can easily loop the strap around the wrist and into the buckle, in a similar way to a waist belt. Versatile and elegant, the unisex Buckle watch comes in three versions: with a gray case, white dial, and a black strap, with a monochrome gray palette, and with a golden case, white dial, and a dark brown leather strap. All three versions feature a 36mm stainless steel case, a mineral glass cover, and a Japanese quartz movement. Photographs© Akihiro Yoshida.
