Simon Wilson

Auckland, New Zealand

Simon spends most workdays inside other people’s buildings, camera bag over one shoulder, tripod in the other hand. He photographs finished projects for architects and interior designers, shooting both stills and a few short video clips while he’s there. A quick lap through the space—notes on daylight, reflections, creaks in the floorboards—comes first; then he sets up, works steady, and packs out before the light shifts for good.

His portfolio runs from breezy beach houses to a recently completed civic hall. Whatever the brief, the goal is the same: show the place straight, no theatrics, so the people who designed it can recognise their own work in the final files. Home is a small town on the west coast. On days off, you’ll find him in the surf with his three-year-old, both of them squinting at the sun—and, inevitably, talking about light.
