‘Edgy’ Concrete Tiles by Patrycja Domanska and Tanja Lightfoot for Kaza Concrete

Available in a variety of colors and two basic shapes, the new ‘Edgy’ tiles from KAZA Concrete allow for seemingly infinite compositional possibilities. Created for KAZA by Austrian designers Patrycja Domanska and Tanja Lightfoot, the collection consists of two tiles with a hexagonal base, one two-dimensional and one three-dimensional.
The nature of the three-dimensional form assigns structure to an otherwise smooth surface with a simplicity that makes the tiles appropriate for either a public or private setting. Composed of asymmetrical planar surfaces, the form plays with convexity and concavity, which creates the illusion of one plane ‘folding’ onto another. The flexibility of their arrangement gives incredible freedom to the designer as well as the space; despite the fact that the design is confined to the inherently flat plane of a wall, the ‘Edgy’ tiles manage to take on a character of their own. This new design from KAZA would be an exciting addition to any space, as a playful decorative accent or an integral architectural element.
