This serene space was designed by architect Antonin Ziegler as an attachment to a rural home in Senneville-sur-Fécamp, France. Serving as a private library, a writing retreat, and a garage, the extension fulfills multiple needs in one multi-purpose unit. Accessible by a backyard staircase, the open box architecture is elevated above the ground by two meters, making room for the client’s car and raising the views through the large windows. Through the glass, one can admire the seaside and feel the warmth of the sun. The light fills the room, reflecting off of the polished wooden walls, flooring, and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. The natural views and lighting are wonderful in and of themselves, but they also help to boost concentration and creativity, just what one needs when sitting to face the page.
